We have recently digitally printed some photographic ‘action shot’ t-shirts of Elisha for the staff involved in the organisation of this event. Some details are below, and anyone wishing to contribute can get in touch via Indigo or attend the charity game.
Elisha Downer was a keen footballer starting out at primary school and eventually playing amateur football for Leyton Orient Ladies, signing for them in 1995 at the tender age of 13. She stayed at the club for about 6, after leaving Leyton Orient in 2001, Elisha signed for Dagenham and Redbridge Ladies and was a 1st team regular for about 9 years, during her time there she played against some big name teams including West Ham and Tottenham Hotspurs Ladies.
This event is being held in honour of Elisha to try and raise some money for her, unfortunately, in November 2010, she was diagnosed with a rare Spinal Cord Tumour called an Ependymoma. After having an operation and undergoing Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy, she has been left unable to walk and now uses a wheelchair. Any money raised will be put towards extra physio sessions or any equipment or adaptations needed by Elisha.
At 3pm, this Saturday (08th) there will be a friendly football match at Leyton Orient and the two teams will be made up of Elisha`s ex teammates from Leyton Orient Ladies and Dagenham & Redbridge Ladies. From 6pm onwards we will be holding an evening event which will include a raffle with loads of prizes including signed goodies by a host of mystery celebrities. Tickets will be sold at a cost of £1 per strip. There will be food available, there will be a licensed bar and a DJ playing a whole host of tunes. As it is a Charity event, there will be a charge of £5 per adult, however under 12s do go free.
Feel free to invite your friends and family along, but please inform them this will be a charity event and we ask everyone to be respectful of that.
We all hope you enjoy the day Elisha, and you manage to raise lots for a very worthy cause! From the Indigo Team.
